After we’ve sedated and left patients in bed for weeks or more, what do we understand of their journey beyond our ICU doors?

What is life like for our patients with their new PTSD, cognitive impairments and physical disabilities? Do we know? Have we inquired? Have we prepared the patients and families for their new lives?

David Burrows give us intimate detail into his new life with Post-ICU Syndrome (PICS). From a big cooperate international engineer to a daily battle with his brain, David gives us insight that only a survivor could.

May we be willing to do everything possible to prevent harm and then arm our survivors with resources to overcome the challenges that lie ahead for them.
